Male fertility apps, compared honestly.
Nine apps and programs for men who want to understand or improve their sperm health: what each actually does, what it measures or only tracks, what it costs, and who it suits, with a source for every fact.

The short version: testing apps (ExSeed, YO, Legacy) come with a physical test and give you a number. Habit apps (Motily, Juno, Finn, FertilityScore, Sperminal) score the lifestyle factors research links to sperm quality and keep you consistent for the two to three months it takes new sperm to form. Couple apps like Flo for Partners are about her cycle and give you a supporting role. Most men end up wanting one from each of the first two groups; no single product does both well yet.

Each product, fairly
Motily
Motily is a daily check-in: eight habits (sleep, alcohol and smoking, heat, exercise, nutrition, mood and stress, hydration, intercourse) logged in about two minutes, a Today score and an Overall score, a 74-day journey mapped to how sperm are made, streaks with Rest Days, a Wingman pairing with a friend, and a partner page she can open without installing anything. Enter the numbers from a semen analysis and each is shown against the WHO 6th edition reference limits, with a baseline-to-retest comparison after the cycle. The science page has the sources for every category.
Where it is weaker- It is not a test. Motily measures nothing; it tracks habits and interprets numbers you bring from a lab or a home kit.
- It is not medical advice or a medical device, and no regulator has assessed it. The score reflects your habits, not your fertility.
- iPhone only, in beta, with rough edges. No Android.
- Pricing is planned, not live: a free tier (check-in, scores, journey, first semen report, partner page, Wingman) and Premium at £8.99 a month or £54.99 a year (about £4.58 a month) for the score breakdown, longer trends and every report interpreted. Nothing is charged during the beta and no card is collected.
ExSeed app
ExSeed is the most complete "test plus program" product here. The app runs the ExSeed home test (CE-IVD certified, marked CE 2797) and reports volume, concentration, motility and total motile sperm count in about 15 minutes, with a live view of the sample, an exportable report, and a stated manual review of every test by an ExSeed fertility expert. The lifestyle program (nutrition, stress, exercise, supplements, heat) is free and works without the device. Kits: 2 for £94.99, 5 for £149.99, 10 for £219.99, with free UK and EU shipping; the shop also lists Canada.
- No morphology, and the device is a rapid test rather than a full lab analysis.
- No FDA clearance is stated, and the shop does not list the US.

YO app (YO Home Sperm Test)
YO is the widest-shipped home device, and the one other brands resell (Proov's sperm test and Quest's at-home kit are YO devices). The app turns your phone camera into a microscope, records a video of the sample, and reports concentration, motility, progressive motility, motile sperm concentration and progressive motile sperm concentration in under 20 minutes, aligned to the WHO 6th edition. It is FDA-cleared; the original clearance was for a qualitative motile-sperm-concentration result at a 6 million per mL cut-off.
- No morphology, no volume, no DNA fragmentation. It is a screen, not a lab report.
- The app is only an interface for the device; there is no habit tracking or program.

Legacy Sperm Insights
Legacy is a lab, not an app, but its Sperm Insights dashboard (March 2026) is the closest thing to tracking built on real lab numbers: a proprietary Sperm Score, age benchmarking against other Legacy clients, and tracking across kits. Analysis is done in CLIA-certified, New York CLEP-approved labs with results within 48 hours of receipt. The $145 Basic kit (April 2026) covers volume, count, concentration and motility; Standard ($295) adds morphology and Advanced ($495) adds DNA fragmentation.
- US only, and each data point costs a kit.
- No daily habit tracking; the dashboard tracks results, not behavior.
- The Sperm Score is proprietary, so it is not comparable with anyone else's number.

Juno
Juno is a straightforward habit tracker: log sleep, diet, stress and exercise, get personalized insights, and on the paid tier, progress charts and daily challenges. It is the only habit app in this group on Android, it comes from a registered company, and the Play listing was updated on 9 August 2026.
- A subscription is required and the price is not shown on the listings we could read.
- Small user base so far (the Play listing shows 100+ installs).
- No semen analysis logging or test integration described.

Finn: Sperm Health & Fertility
Finn (released 3 March 2026) is the app most like Motily in shape: a 0 to 100 "SpermScore", 74-day cycle tracking, streaks and daily habit logging. Two things set it apart: an AI coach you can ask questions, and uploading raw DNA data from a consumer genetics service for "genetic insights".
- Requires iOS 26, which rules out older iPhones.
- We found no published validation for the genetics feature, and an AI coach can sound more certain than the evidence is.
- New and from a single developer, so longevity is unproven; the same is true of Motily.

FertilityScore: Men's Health
FertilityScore gives two numbers, today's action and a cumulative 72-day trend, and its distinctive feature is a food database with the mechanism each food is thought to act through. Sleep, activity, stress and recovery are tracked daily, and anonymous accounts with EU-based encrypted storage are a good sign on privacy.
- Subscription prices are not shown on the listing text.
- No test integration or lab-report logging described.
- 72 days is close to the 74 used elsewhere; neither is exact.

Sperminal
Sperminal has the most interesting model of the habit apps: it treats the sperm your body is making as four overlapping batches and shows how today's sleep, exercise, alcohol, heat or illness lands on each. It keeps 90 days of history, supports partner sharing, and stores everything on the device: no accounts, no cloud, no ads. It is the cheapest paid option here, and it says plainly that it is an educational tool, not a medical device.
- No backup or sync, by design; a new phone means starting again.
- Released April 2026, so it is early.
- No semen analysis logging described.

Flo for Partners
Flo for Partners lets a woman using Flo share her cycle with her partner's phone: where she is in the cycle, when she is likely ovulating, symptoms, and articles on how to be useful. If your only question is when to have sex, this is the most direct answer at no extra cost. Other cycle apps (Ovia, Glow, Premom, Fertility Friend, Kindara) have partner sharing to varying degrees; we have not verified their current features and do not list them.
- Nothing about you is tracked. It is her app, shared.
- Some Flo content sits inside Flo Premium.
- Motily's partner page works the other way round (she sees your progress), and the two can coexist.

What we left out, and why
Mojo (UK, mail-in AI analysis) still has a website, but a UK reseller reports it ceased trading in summer 2025 and we could not verify a live price or checkout. Bird&Be, Fellow, Ro, SpermCheck, Proov and Labcorp OnDemand sell tests without a tracking app; they are on the at-home sperm tests comparison. Tilly is a mental-health app for couples in fertility treatment, not a tracker. Batch was described in a May 2026 Men's Journal piece as a $149-a-year app with quarterly sperm tests and Oura sync, but the site it names is a donor-matching platform and we could not verify the app from its own pages. Bevel turned up nothing verifiable. Anything we could not confirm from the maker's own site or store listing is out.
How to choose, by situation
Just starting to try
You probably do not need a test yet. Pick a habit app you will actually open daily and give it a full 74-day cycle, because sperm made today are the ones in play in three months. Add Flo for Partners if timing is the open question. After a year without a pregnancy (six months if your partner is 35 or over), see a doctor; that is a normal step, not a verdict.
You have a result to improve
You want a retest about three months out and something that keeps you honest in between. Motily is built for this loop (baseline report in, 74 days of check-ins, retest window, before-and-after) and reads the numbers against WHO limits. ExSeed does the same with its own device at each end, simpler in the UK or EU if you do not need morphology. Treatment decisions belong with your clinician.
You want a lab number
Use a lab: Legacy, Fellow or Ro in the US, Malebox in the UK, or an NHS semen analysis through your GP. Home devices (YO, ExSeed, Bird&Be) screen count and motility but not morphology. Motily then reads the report against the WHO 6th edition limits and tracks the change between reports; Legacy's dashboard does the same for its own kits.
You want a daily habit
All five habit apps do the basics. The differences are platform (Juno for Android), privacy (Sperminal has no accounts), extras (Finn's AI coach, FertilityScore's food database) and what surrounds the habit (Motily's partner page, Wingman and lab-report interpretation). Try the free tiers; the one you still open on day 40 is the right one.
Questions people ask
Can an app measure my sperm count?
Only if it comes with a physical test. The ExSeed and YO apps analyze a sample through a device on your phone, and Legacy's dashboard shows mail-in lab results. Motily, Juno, Finn, FertilityScore and Sperminal are habit trackers: they score lifestyle factors linked to sperm health (Motily also interprets numbers from a lab report), but none measures anything itself.
Which male fertility app is free?
As of 3 September 2026: the ExSeed app is free and its lifestyle content works without the device, though testing needs the kit (from £94.99 for two tests). The YO app is free but needs the YO device ($99.95 for three tests). Motily is free during its beta with a free tier planned after it. Sperminal is free with a one-off $4.99 Pro unlock. Juno, Finn and FertilityScore use subscriptions.
Do any of these apps work on Android?
ExSeed, YO and Juno have Android and iOS apps. Flo for Partners is on both. Finn, FertilityScore, Sperminal and Motily are iPhone only as of 3 September 2026; Motily's partner page is a website, so a partner on Android can use that part.
How long does it take for lifestyle changes to show in a sperm test?
Roughly two to three months. Sperm take about 74 days to develop plus one to two weeks to mature, so a test a week into a new routine mostly reflects the old one. That is why Motily, Finn, FertilityScore and Sperminal are built around a 72 to 74 day cycle, and why a before-and-after test is best spaced about three months apart. The FAQ has the studies.
Is a fertility score from an app the same as being fertile?
No. Every score here, including Motily's, is an estimate built from what you log: habits, not fertility. A semen analysis measures sperm, and only a clinician can interpret it in the context of your health and your partner's. After a year of trying (six months if your partner is 35 or over), see a doctor regardless of any app.
